The Amazing Welkin
Storm Shadow infiltrates the Pentagon to blackmail the Jugglers into giving Snake-Eyes a mission to keep him occupied, rather than languishing waiting for Scarlet to die now that her life support has been terminated. The mission; to rescue his dead sister’s fiancé, George Strawhacker, from a Borovian gulag.

Hawk arrives in Millville to arrest Mutt and Spirit, since Cobra vanished overnight and no one will back their story about the Cobra invasion and brainwashing of the town. With the Joes out of Millville, Cobra Commander re-activates the townsfolks’ brainwashing and they recommence their assembly of Terror Dromes.

Darklon has the Joes and the Oktober Guard on the run in Sierra Gordo.

Apparent Conclusions
A group of Joes gets captured by Tomax & Xamot after destroying Terror Dromes the Middle East.

Snake-Eyes and Stalker track down Scarlet and Storm Shadow. Snake-Eyes then goes after Cobra Commander at the Cobra consulate building to exact revenge for his sending ninjas to kill Storm Shadow.

Hawk puts an end to Crowther’s persecution of Stalker, Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes.

Death in the Desert
In this issue we see the first deaths of established Joe characters. Sadly, their deaths aren’t given the significance they should have. Cobra Commander, still shaken by his near-death brush with Snake-Eyes, gives Tomax & Xamot the order to “get rid of them (the prisoners), immediately!” When Tomax & Xamot request clarification of the order, he only responds “What else can it mean? Just do it,” though he has no problem explaining to the random viper who enquires after he hung up the comm line that he wanted the prisoners released so as to not unleash Snake-Eyes fury upon him again. Tomax & Xamot, who only moments before were threatening that the Joes would never leave that dessert, then become panicked at the thought of them, international terrorists, executing their enemies, so they relay the order to underlings, all of which also don’t have it in them to fulfill the order.

Only one random SAW Viper amongst the entirety of the Cobra regiment is willing to execute the order, and does so with the promise of 2-months pay from the twins. So, the SAW Viper mows down the Joes, killing Doc, Heavy Metal, Thunder, and Crank Case, before the remaining Joes counter and escape. Awhile later 3 more Joes, Quick Kick, Crazylegs, and Breaker, are unceremonious killed when the tank the Joes had commandeered is destroyed.

Escalator to Armageddon
Cobra Commander finds out the Joes were executed and the SAW-Viper is immediately recalled, just before killing the remaining Joes. Reinforcements finally arrive and pick up the surviving Joes, who pursue the SAW-Viper, only to let him go when he survives his ride being destroyed and being unarmed when the Joes find him.

Tomax & Xamot move forward with their primary mission, the invasion of the country of Benzheen, and the seizure of 10% of the planet’s oil supply. The US government is called-in to remove Cobra, and the entire G.I.Joe is mobilized and transported to the Middle East.
